ROLE

creative Director

In 2018, I was invited to create the logo and visual identify for the newly formed Museum of African American History (MAAH) Stone Book Award.

The MAAH Stone Book Award is an annual prize that encourages scholarship and writing within the field of African American history and culture by awarding a $50,000 winning prize and two $10,000 finalist prizes for exceptional adult non-fiction books written in a literary style.

As the book award has grown and evolved from the initial 33 submissions in 2018 to the 94 submissions in 2021, my role has also grown and evolved. Since its inception, I have designed the communications, social media, designed and developed the website (which includes an extensive searchable library) and supported the in-person and (in 2020) virtual awards events, including live video.

Emails, text messages, phone calls — beyond beautiful graphics, Michelle excels at communication. She engages thoughtfully with you and your team to ensure that your vision is articulated fully and, as a result, fully expressed in her sharp, clean design work.
